Are you using your talents and hobbies to make money? Here are some fun ways to turn your personal interests into money in the bank:

1. Photography

If you enjoy taking pictures and you have a good eye for that perfect shot, you might consider charging for your skill. Start with taking pictures for family and friends and then expand your business by word of mouth and social media. If you prefer to take pictures of scenery rather than people, you can also set up accounts on sites like Flickr and Shutterstock and sell your photos to clients. There is also the opportunity to sell your photos at art festivals throughout the summer.

2. Writing

The ability to write offers you many avenues with which you can not only share your talent, but also make a little money as well. Freelance writing offers an opportunity to choose which jobs you want to accept and allows you to create your own schedule. You can also put your skills to use editing others’ work or through tutoring.

3. Health and Fitness

Do you have a passion for exercise and nutrition? Become a personal trainer! There are many different certifications you can do at your own pace through national organizations. There is also the option to get certified through a gym’s program. You can even offer your training services freelance.

4. Tech Repair

If you are someone who is good with technology you can definitely take that skill to the bank. Cracked smart phone screens and computer glitches are common issues many people need help with but don’t want to pay an arm and a leg to fix. You can charge less than the pros (who will even charge for a consultation), but still enough to put a little extra cash in your pocket.

5. Private Skin Care Products

Do you have a passion for beauty products? Why not design your own? As suggested in this article, you should start by determining your target audience (sensitive skin, acne fighting, etc) and then choose an active ingredient accordingly. From there you can find a company that will help you develop your formula, brand, and production.

6. Auto Repairs

Even with small things like changing the brakes or doing an oil change, you can make a few extra bucks and save others some money too. If you are good with engines and bigger repairs, you might be able to specialize and charge even more.

7. Crafts

If you create arts, crafts, or jewelry, you may consider selling your products. You can sell at craft fairs, set up an etsy shop online, or use social media pages. Be sure to also have business cards ready so if someone compliments you on your work, you can pass along your information.

8. Shopping

How can you fulfill your need to shop while actually earning money? Become a personal shopper! This could be grocery shopping or even clothes shopping for a special event. This is also a great opportunity to have business cards ready to hand out to anyone you may encounter and make your services known. Word of mouth can be very powerful, especially from satisfied clients.

9. Baking

Start a baking business by selling your baked goods at art fairs, farmers markets, and summer festivals. Farmers markets do not usually require a catering permit, making it an easier route to selling. Hand out flyers and business cards to get the word out at these events. For best results, choose one to two items you are really exceptional at and focus on those.

10. Graphic Design

An artistic skill, mixed with a knowledge of computer programs can make you very desirable in the graphic design realm. Design wedding announcements, party invitations, signs, and various designs for friends and then share your work. These can be sold through word of mouth recommendations and at craft fairs.

As you develop a reputation for your work, it will become easier for you to acquire clients and make more money. This gives you flexibility to continue to do these things as a hobby or perhaps someday soon, you will have created a new career for yourself!
