Travelin' Texan

I fell in love with Country Music at a young age. I don’t know if it’s the beautiful stories within the songs that everyday people can relate to; or the fond memories I have growing up when we would drive up to see my Paw paw in Mississippi and it never failed that he’d either be singing “Yellow Rose of Texas” or “Momma’s Don’t let your Babies Grow up to be Cowboys”
Over the last couple of years I have become enamored with Texas Country. My favorite type of music singing about one of my favorite things, Texas! Y’all know I was hooked.  A couple months’ back I bought The Josh Abbot Band’s cd ‘Small Town Family Dream’ and fell in love with the remake of “My Texas (feat. Pat Green) ft Pat Green that they did. If you haven’t heard the song then I seriously suggest you give the link a listen. After listening to the song, while reading Texas Monthly and Southern Living, I realized there are so many things In Texas that I have not done. Thus, I decided to start a Texas Bucket List. (I have done a few of these things but I decided to pretend that I’ve never done any so I can document them all.) As the song says, “Then you ain’t met my Texas yet

I give y'all my Texas Bucket List

  1. Seeing Luckenbach on your list just broke my heart a bit and made me homesick! I love swilling beer and throwing horseshoes in Luckenbach!
Howdy from a homesick Hill Country girl! :)

  2. ah, stinking love your blog and all things TX. I recently moved out of the great state of TX, and the good 'ol USA all together but my roots will ALWAYS be in TX. If anything, the fondness I have has only become greater.

This is such a fun post about things to do in our great state!
I recently posted about my visit to padernales state falls park and it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Oh and if this--- "Catch a Trout in Port A" means Port Arthur, then you are more than welcome to come stay with me anytime I'm in the states and we'll go catch some trout. ;)

  11. Hi,

I'm from Liverpool England, I'm 60. I'm planning a road trip to Texas in September. There is a none stop flight from Manchester to Houston, which makes Texas easy to get to. Somehow I've somehow stumbled upon your blog. Your Bucket list has given me something to think about. At present I have no idea at all about Texas, other than watching Dallas in the '70's and catching The Alamo on the TV. So your list has no reference points for me. I'll Google what the list might mean, e.g. I think HWY 16 is a scenic drive. "swifletts in Nazareth" has me beat. I can only guess it's a cake in a local cafe.

Thanks for the list, I'll see what I can work into my trip.

    Steve
