Texas in 101 Seconds

What is Texas Tuesday? A chance for you to show off the awesomeness that is TEXAS!! You can blog about anything; restaurants, vacation spots, venues, concerts, your hometown, shops, fashion, sports, etc. The linkup is not limited to Texans, we just ask that the post is about Texas.

We don't make following any of the hosts a requirement, but we do ask that you include our button and at least post about a Texas related topic. Any links that are not related to the link up will be deleted. (button code is in grab box below the image above)

We've invited Texas bloggers to co host with us weekly. If you're interested in being a co host for our link up please email Amanda at princessofthepanhandle(at)gmail(dot)com and she will get you on the calendar.

Today I'm Co-Hosting Texas Tuesday and I am excited about this. This is one of my favorite link ups. I was going to write about my camping trip in East Texas two weekends ago but alas I don't have pictures yet. When you start talking about the South many get very defensive and love to argue who is and isn't Southern. I always say if you're from Kentucky, Oklahoma or Florida, you have no room to talk. Your state was either a territory or you didn't have to balls to succeed. Y'all already know that I lived a few years in East Texas for college and absolutely loved it. While DFW will always be my home and I'm proud of the Water Tower/Jesus Town I grew up in, I would move back to East Texas in a heartbeat if a job presented itself. With that said, if you want to learn more about East Texas and the culture, you should watch the movie Bernie with Jack Black. I won't give the movie away but it's about a man in Carthage Texas. Carthage is not far from Nacogdoches (where I went to college. Nac is the "oldest town in Texas") I've been there once and it wasn't pleasant. A friend in college Grandpa had a farm out there and we spent a day on it. I was bit by a spider and yellow jack and it caused such a bad reaction. Well, despite that I had fun out there. This little a beauty of a clip explains Texas in 101 seconds. Happy 80th Birfday Willie!

Tomorrow I'm starting the blog everyday in May campaign. I think it's a wonderful idea to get everyone back to the basics of blogging. I also like that they're topics for each day to help you along. Y'all be looking out for that.

Hey, Kiddos! Let's Reveal Some Cara Boxes

This was my first time participating in Cara Box and I loved it. I was paired with the lovely Camille. She did such a good job of learning about me. My sweet tea taste so good out of that beautiful mug. I also loved that she thought about my new car when buying gifts.  Homegirl, don't even know how excited I was to see the things for my car. The air freshener has come in so handy and now my car doesn't smell like sweet tea and vinegar (don't ask) Those little wipes were also baller cause they helped get all the sweet tea out of my car that I spilled the other day. I haven't used the bag yet but I will. The card was so personal and cute. Y'all go check her out and tell her I said so.The person I was to give gifts to was Ms. Pinky B. I was a bad blogger and sent her gift a few days late. But it's all good cause she got them and loved them. If y'all wanna see what I got her then you'll have to go check out her blog. While you're over there, congratulate her on her dirty 30 and engagement.

Welp, that's all. Tomorrow I'm co-hosting The Texas Tuesday Link-Up and y'all should all visit.
Also go check out the lovely Kaitlyn who sponsors this lovely gift exchange.

Texas Tuesday: The Stars Edition

If you couldn't tell by now that I'm a HUGE sports fan... go run a lap and have several seats for not being observant enough. Last week I went to my first professional Hockey Game with one of my besties. Her boytoy couldn't go. He's a huge hockey fan and even plays in an adult league. Hockey is not big in my family. We would watch it here and there but not on the regular. We are Stars fans but not in the sense like we do with the Rangers, Cowboys and Mavericks. I had nice seats for my first game and we even one 5-1. This sets us up nicely going into playoffs. It was also cool because a few of the famous players from when I was little and The Stars won all those Cups were there. Dirk was also there. The camera kept flashing to him. We tried to find him after the game since we heard he was meeting fans but we failed. Some of the guys around us where surprised that I knew what was going on. Just because I'm not a huge fan of a sport doesn't mean I'm clueless. But it was fun and I'll def have to do it again.

Prayers For All

If you didn't know last night there was an explosion in West, Texas. A town of about 2,600. It is just North of Waco (Think Baylor) and a little over an hour from where I live. They say that people could feel the blast all the way in Arlington. It registered as a 2.1 earthquake. Basically there was a fire at a fertilizer plant. A crazy out of control fire. There is tons of video of the fire. When the crews went to put it out the building exploded. Almost 200 people were taken to nearby hospitals. About 15 (many rescue personnel. There are still so many unaccounted for and they are searching the rubble) are dead and hundreds of homes and buildings are damaged. Carter Blood Care really needs A- blood and there asking for our Prayers. I haven't been able to watch the news because it's all they have been showing. I was in tears on the way to work when they were playing the interviews on the radio. A dad and his daughter where driving by the fire and decided to film. All of the sudden the explosion happened and they got it on camera. You just hear the girl screaming and crying for her dad to drive and that she can't hear anything.

Psalm 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble"

Psalm 40:28-29 “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”

Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Prayers to all in Boston. I refused to watch any of the news coverage because it just broke my heart.

And it's stormin' something fierce here today. (Wait, that totes made me sound like an East Texas Nac Rat. Welp, thanks goodness I ruined it with the previously, poorly written sentence!) The Angels are cryin' for our lost generation. That or the devil is just beatin' his wife again.

On a happier note: Y'all know I am a huge sports fan. Especially Dallas teams. Well, I'm headed to the Starz game tonight and I am too thrilled. Y'all have a great rest of your week if I don't catch ya by then.

Glitzngrits.com

Hey y'all I'm officially blogging at Glitzngrits.com. I'm kind of excited about all of this. Maybe this will help me stop being so lazy and actually post all these drafts I having waiting to be published.

It's not that I'm stuck or bored. (I'm just always tired. By the time I get home I am to lazy to sit in front of my computer unless it's Twitter or Mjsbigblog.com) I started blogging as a way to share the creative things in my life as well as my love for Texas and the South. (I've always had a vision in my head when I started this blog. I just didn't want this blog to turn into woe is my like my Xanga, OLD FB notes, Original blog, Tumblr, Livejournal and OLD Myspace Notes did.)  I have a fascination with people and cultures. Maybe that's why I ask the new girl at work the most inappropriate questions. She is Sunni Muslim and I love that she doesn't take offense when I ask the most STUPID things.
Anyways, I don't know where I was going with this but to say that I plan to come back and write more. I've never been one to conform and lately I feel like I've been confirming to much in blogland. That's cool if y'all want to link up every fraking day and follow a schedule but I don't want to. I also plan on finishing the topics in my head instead of starting them and never actually posting them.

Now if I could stop being lazy and finish updating my blog design. It times like this I wish I paid more attention in Web Design class in HS. I know I could always pay some amazing gal to design my blog but the devil is a lie. Y'all know how many sweet tea's I could buy with that money.

Anyways, y'all have an amazing rest of your week
Excuse me while I cry that my Mavs are out of playoff contention and the Cowboys can't get it together enough to bring Romo some help.

MHMP: Here We Go

It's been forever since I posted a weekend recap on-time so here y'all go.

Friday night I hung out with some of my bestfrans like usual
And this is why I always smell like smoke. I don't smoke but one of my bestfrans does.
He is however getting better.Friday night he only smoke three cigs. Y'all keep praying for him
cause he is making progress.

Saturday morning I chilled with this gal.

Saturday Night I ate dinner at Cici's. Man, our town Cici's is starting to look a hot ol' mess.
But the kids we were with loved it so it's ok.

This man was just walking down the street like it was nothing. Only in my Jesus Town.

Later Friday night I went with one of my frans to Adventure Landing.
She was babysitting her nieces and nephew. That place rips you off but it's ok cause the kids had a TOTAL blast.

As y'all can see I started updating my blog. Not because I wanted to but because I had to. I have been saying for a while that I wanted to and would but then never got around to it. Well, with the help of Google and a few of my favorite bloggers posting tutorials I figured that I could give it a try. Last night while watching the ACM's I thought I backed up my original template properly. HA, I did not and was thus forced to make some changes so the blog looked manageable for today. This is what I get for not paying attention in Web Design Class in HS.. But I am determined to figure this out and make it look pretty. We shall see.

Tatse of Tuesday: Pork Tenderloin Creole

It's been FOREVER since I posted a good recipe and y'all know how I love to tell y'all I cook better then yew, while making you suffer through a recipe post. Today is one of those days. I really did want to update y'all on my Easter Weekend but alas I have no pics. I had to take my phone into Apple yesterday and since they were unable to fix the problems I've been having for weeks they just did a hard rest. I haven't been able to back up my phone for a few weeks now. I wasn't to upset because I didn't loose all that much in the process  Just pics from the weekend. Y'all already know that I'm half Cajun and pretty daggum proud of that. Wait, what does that have to do with what I'm about to say... HA! This Easter it was pretty low key for my family. We ate a small dinner alone in our pj's. I knew we would be at Church most of the day this year so I wanted something that could cook while we were gone. This was perfect because you could just set it and forget it. I've said it before but I'll say it again: If you are afraid to slave over a stove or let something slow cook for hours then you could never be a Southern Cook. Just ain't gonna happen y'all. If your new then I suggest you reference this post on how my recipe post work.

Now that we've gotten the awkward story out of the way... let's get to the recipe.
Ingredients:
Pork Tenderloin (at least 2 pounds)
1/2 cup of flower
1 small onion chopped
Creole Seasonin' like Ton Cha Cha's
Small bell pepper chopped
1/2 cup of celery chopped
2 cloves of garlic shopped
1 package of chicken or turkey gravy
1 can of diced tomatoes
A little mustard & BBQ sauce if desired.
A stick of butter
Directions:
1. Season the Pork Tenderloin in the Creole seasonin' and then dredge in flour.
2. Poke a few holes and insert the chopped bell pepper, onion, celery, garlic and butter inside. Sprinkle the rest all around and in the crock-pot
3. Cover and cook for 9 hours on low. Yes, it makes a difference if you try and put it on high and speed up the process. Patience my dears.
4. Afrer about 9 hours of cookin', sprinkle the gravy mix and the can of diced tomatoes on top. I like to then add a few spoonfuls of mustard and BBQ sauce cause most of my family hates tomatoes.
5. Carefully stir and then cook for another 30 mins.
3. Place the contents in a nice size pitcher. Add the seven cups of cold water and stir baby stir.

This can also be cooked in the oven. This particular time I cooked it in the oven cause the pork tenderloin was to big. You can also do this to straight Porkloin. If cooked in the oven place in a roastin' pan. Do all the steps the same except cook at 350 degrees for about 2 hours , 3 if your oven takes longer, with a little water. Enough to cover the bottom. Then add the tomatoes/gravy and cook for another 45 minutes or so.
