Aleshea eats more nutritious food and less sweet tea and grits

Let's talk for a minutes about how #Rough Texas summers can be. We are still in that drought we have been experiencin' since 2010. Y'all that ain't cute. In the summer I try to be a lot healthier cause I spend most of life in tank tops and summer dresses 'cause it's always hotter than the devil outside. Not that I know what the devil feels like the but y'all get my point. Smh, even I can't type that with a straight face. You know... the "healthy part." We all know my diet consists of sweet tea, grits and a lot of sass. But I will admit summer is about the only time you'll find water in my Mason Jar. It be to hot not to. The other day I posted a photo on FB of me near the pool and one of the boys replied, "That's the closet to water i've seen you in the 15 years I've known you." When I told him he was wrong he replied, " I've never even seen you drink water much less play in it." I know y'all are wonderin', "what's the point?" Well, that convo got me to thinkin': thinkin' that I gotta make an effort to at least do better. As my Momma always said growin' up, "just because you skinny don't mean you healthy. Skinny people get diabetes too."

Fast forward to recently and my partnership with Emeals. They asked a few of us bloggers to try some of their recipes from the "Paleo" and "Clean Eating" and let 'em know what we think. I decided I would try one from the Paleo craze. I'm new to all this meal plannin' but hey, thought I'd give it a shot. I think what I loved most was how it was all planned out. Not only that but the recipe was simple, contained many things I already had and cost less than 20 bucks. And the family members in my house who are tryin' to get fit/healthy appreciated how quick the recipe was. Includin' prep/cook time it only took about 30 minutes. Y'all thats my kind of meal... Maybe this "Aleshea-eats-more-nutrious food- and- less- sweet tea- and- girts, won't be so bad after all. I give y'all the recipe to Lemon Parsley Chicken Thighs

And the best part is Emeals wants to give away a three month subscription to one of y'all. Y'all enter away and leave me to my sweet tea cause once the first hits my #NOEXCUSES #75in31 Challenge starts. Click them pretty little links if you want more info.

Ingredients:
1 large lemon
1/4 cup of fresh chopped parsley
4 large boneless chicken thighs
1/2 table spoon of olive oil.
1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon of peppee

3/4 lb of asparagus trimmed
2 teaspoons of olive oil
1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar
1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt

Directions:
1 Preheat the oven at 425 degrees
2. Zest the lemon, then cut the lemon in half and squeeze all the juice into a large bowl.
3. Add the parsley
4. Now add the chicken and let marinate for 10 minutes
5. Bake in a a dish covered in olive oil
for 25 minutes or until done. Make sure to sprinkle a little salt and pepper on them first.
7. Y'all enjoy

For the Asparagus:

1. Oven should be at 425 degrees
2. Toss the asparagus with olive oil, vinegar and salt on a baking dish. Y'all make sure it has edges so nothin' drips in your oven.
3. Back for about 10 minutes.

"Hannah Montana phone number say what"

Y'all I'm excited cause today Sam at Single Hop gets to be my fran. Wait, I don't know if I actually had to tell y'all that since Sam gets to be my fran for free cause I just like him, his company and the topic of this post a whole heck of a lot. I know y'all couldn't care less and really just wanna know what the title of this post means and why I have a "not-actin'-a-mess-Miley-Cyrus" photo for this post. Well, I'm sure 'bout to tell y'all.

I've mentioned a few times before but I have a little sister. Well, she ain't that little. She's only five years younger than me. We really are like night and day.Growin' up we really were quite different. One of those differences came in her obsession of Hannah Montana. Y'all to say my sister was obsessed with the show, Miley or anythin' revolved around it is an understatement. So obsessed that she had a MySpace account where she would connect with the show and fans of the show. Upon connection' she followed an account that claimed to be Miley Cyrus. Y'all the creepy man that ran this account did a good job. So good that he had many other accounts of "celebreties" and would use them to comment on the Miley account and make it look like he was really her. Y'all he was foolin' thousands of people. Foolin' them so well that when "fake Miley" said "he" would call a few fans she put our house phone number all over the internet. Obviously he was not Miley and was tryin' to get her to his house for a "sleep-over." Who know what could have happened if  my aunt haden't stepped in and realized what she was doin' on the internet. Or if Miley , at the time, hadn't issued a public statement sayin' she didn't have a Myspace page and that "he" was a fake. And I know y'all are wonderin', "how dumb could my sister be" and where was my Momma..

Now, I know y'all hear all this and think , "Leshea- duh! I would never share some somethin' like that on the internet. I ain't crazy!" Obviously someone with common sense would never share somethin' so personal like a phone number, address or log site log-in information, but have you stopped and thought about the many other things you shouldn't share online but have...

A few weeks back a bug known by the name of Heartbleed made it's way onto the internet and started messin' with a whole heck of a lot of people. Y'all people's info was taken and they are havin' a mess of a time gettin' things fixed. As of a few days back problems were still happenin' and information had a chance of bein' compromised. Y'all websites as simple as Tumblr and Pinterest are on the list. That is not ok.

So, let's get real for a second. Yes I'm real all the time here but I mean seriously:

Stop with the personal information all over the internet. While I love knowin' all about your weddin' and that special day, some things do not need to be shown. Have you ever realized that simple things in the picture could help someone identify where the photo was taken. That coupled with puttin' the date of your weddin' all over your site could lead to people findin' out more information about you than you want. Maybe I'm just good at stalkin' people and probably shouldn't admit that. But honest it ain't that hard. And while I love learnin' about your kid and all the things they do and accomplish- let's keep that information to a minimum to. I don't need to know they team they are on etc. That would make it so easy for someone to get information. Maybe I just grew up with paranoid parents but I think of these things. Growin' up my Momma hated the yard signs people would put in the front yard with the kids name and team they were on. We would drive by them in the neighborhood and my Momma would always say, " Now not only do I know what school the kid goes to but I know their name, the sport/team they are on as well as their address and position number. That's doesn't make it hard to stalk or snatch them." I know that's far fetched but think about it.

Or for example, y'all know I don't have a common spelled name. One of the reason I never use my last name or say the exact town I live in. It would be so easy to look me up and find all my info. Y'all that ain't ok. With the focus so much on social media, and modern technology, updatin' people on your every day lives feels like a must. Y'all know I enjoy sharin' my life via this blog but there's also a limit to what I will post. I'm just sayin' be careful before you hit send/publish. Just like you wouldn't put your SSN number out for everyone to see or my sister shouldn't have put our phone number out you shouldn't put other personal information.

I challenge you to google yourself one day and see what ya find. You'd be surprised. And when I say "search yourself" I mean do it as if you know nothin' about yourself. Use a website like "hidemyass" that will search without history. I guess what i'm tryin' to say is if you know how to look, it really isn't that hard to find information on someone.

Now that I rambled far to much, I wanna hear from y'all. What's one thing you would never share online? What's that one thing you see people share online that makes you cringe to the pit of your soul?

"When I like, lick my fingers... Yeah it's good"

#SouthernEats, #SouthernEats, let's all do the #SouthernEats. Wait? How does one do the #SouthernEats? What does that even mean? Oh, you know... Eat at places in The South and pretend they are more southern they really are.

But seriously, that's what I love about The South and Texas so much. I love how diverse we really are- especially the cuisine.

This past weekend, before I got sick- sidenote: thanks for all the love and well wishes on FB cause I'm feelin' much better. But no more bloggin' out loud. Back to food. Mmmm, I love me some food. Anyways, this past weekend I stalked visited my favorite Asian spot in all of Dallas: Mint Asian Fusion Cafe and Dessert Bar with Bestfran Numero Uno. I was introduced to this little jewel about a year ago by Ride or Die. Voted one of the top 100 resturants in Dallas by D Magazine, nestled between 75 & Forrest Lane and, for all my Dallas lovers, this baby is the cutest ever.  Don't let the outside fool ya. Mint may be a fusion restaurant but it's specialty is Thai food.

Thai food isn't for everyone but it sure is for me. What I love the most, besides the food is the beautiful atmosphere and decor. Y'all I swear the owner had bloggers in mind with all the white and mint colors that make photographing food a dream. Even the chopsticks are mint colored. The waitresses are always the friendlies and nicest and make for the loveliest of experiences.

For those not feelin' Thai food there are plenty of other choices to choose from. Next time I'll have to try the Sushi so I can't sit at the Sushi Bar. I wish I would have taken a presentable picture of the bar and all the neon lights that accompany. I say that now and watch I visit and try one of the stir frys. Heck, the prices are so right that I could try many things in one setin'

Next time you are in Dallas and lookin' for a neat little Asian Cafe, I say put your money or appetite on Mint. Tell 'em I sent ya. Just say, "You know the girl with the big camera snappin' all the pics while the waiter patiently waited to put more food on the table."

Mint this one's for you.

In her most Southern voice, "That the largest dog I've ever seen!"

This past Sunday I got together with some of the Shouldabeen Sisters for dinner at Ozona. It's quite funny cause it was supposed to be an outin' where the momma's took their momma's. Well, my grandma lives up north so I offered to go with my momma so she wasn't alone. I kept makin' jokes that I only showed face so I could get a blog post out of it. Ozona was on my list of resturants to try. They're known for havin' one of the best patios in Dallas. Speakin' of Patios: how beautiful is that patio?

I had wanted to sit on the patio but many of the ladies were older and did think they could handle the patio so we opted to eat inside. The inside was just as nice. I couldn't decide what to get on the menu until it was noted that the chicken fried stake had been named one of the top ten best chicken fried steak in Dallas. I knew right then that this is what I'd be tryin'. Holy moly that chicken fried steak was not only good but was fillin'. Y'all it literally took me three meals to finish the dern thing. I don't know how they breaded that chicken fried steak but I need it in my life forever and ever.

They also supplied us with endless amounts of chips and salsa that would have made you run south of the border. That's how good they were. The salsa came in little warm bowls. That was new for me but now I wish everyone put salsa in warm bowls.

This restaurant was a great little find that I plan to visit many times over. Especially at brunch since they claim to have one of the best brunch menus Dallas has to offer.

Where have y'all eaten at lately that you just loved?

Blogger, party of four

Festivities long gone, appetizers eaten, cocktails drank, friendships made, loveliest of time spent.

Y'all may have seen my post last week where I talked about #sgbcTX . I'm a member of a Southern Bloggin' group on FB. Texas, North Carolina and Mississippi ladies from the group decided to have meetups. I was in charge of the TX meet-up along with Ms. Addie. The event was held at one of my favorite Dallas restaurants The Rustic. I've mentioned before that The Rustic is owned by Pat Green and a few members of Free Range Concepts.

Now that I have my first meet-up under my belt, I'm excited to do more and meet more Texas/Dallas bloggers. Quite a few ladies signed up but as you can see only a few showed up and I ain't even mad about it. I really got to know the ladies and the blogs they blog at. Plus y'all know I can talk so, hey girl hey. Wait, that ain't even make no kind of sense. I can't wait to stay in contact with these ladies. We are plannin' on gettin' another larger meet-up/ event together for the end of summer/ beginnin' of fall. Of course it'll be before the start of football season. Who y'all think we are...

I've already mentioned Addie a few times. I like to think of her as a ArkananTex blogger. She was born in Texas but grew up in Arkansas and now lives in Texas. Lauren blogs at Will Sing for Makeup. She's on the far left in the picture. Y'all she is originally from Mississippi and has the cutest accent. And can we talk about how she's an Opera Singer. #Yesplease. Brenda has two blogs Dailymayo & Schooling a Monkey. She's a freelance writer. Can I get another #YesPlease.

We spent hours gabbin' about everythin' under the sun. It's nice to feel like you have two new frans. How was your weekend? What y'all do? I also spent much time poolside yesterday. I've been toooo excited cause I was only out for a few hours and already started to get tan lines. Y'all know what that means: Summer in Texas is on it's way.

And a big thanks to Addie for all the pictures above
