A couple of weeks ago I set silent on the other end of a phone call. One of my bestfrans had finally decided to start livin' for Christ. I was thrilled and we had been havin' regular phone conversations about it. On this particular day bestfran decided to call me and his words were so profound I was speechless: ,"Aleshea, God is soo good. Why didn't you ever tell me? I knew you were religious and we'd had conversations about religion and death." I responded with, "I tried but you wouldn't listen." The phone grew dead for a minutes before he simply replied, "Why didn't you try harder?"
I can't help but think how I could have been the only believer he encountered in his life. Wasted opportunities. A preacher once said that sometimes God keeps you safe until he can save you. Never realized how true this statement was until now.
So... consider this my public apology. My apology for not always bein' the boldest and best witness you created me to be. Consider this my new beginnin'. My beginnin' to show grace, mercy, compassion and Christ like love and all that I do.

Welcome, welcome. We can always use a reminder.
DeleteIts funny how that happens isn't it? You live your life, have those conversations but don't think about trying harder... I'm guilty of that too
ReplyDeleteIt's so easy to forget that we are witnessing to others AT ALL TIME, for better or worse. I need that reminder constantly! So thrilled for you and your friend.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I am thrilled too. And yes we always need that reminder
DeleteWow. So happy for your friend! I sometimes delude myself into thinking that being a witness can be pushy. But if I'm seeking God in all I do, with every example I make, my witness CAN'T be a bad thing. Only good comes from Christ. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat reminder to be bold and consistent in our witness. Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and yes, yes it is.
DeleteChrist....what a good choice for C
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! I love me some Christ
DeleteSuch great news for you both!
ReplyDeleteIt's difficult to know when to push a littler harder and when to back off and let someone simmer. I suspect you may have helped your friend be ready to hear the message when the time was right for him, but he didn't realize it.
ReplyDeleteJean, visiting for the A-Z Challenge from Rantings and Ravings of an Insane Writer
Very well said Jean. I never want to be pushy or turn someone off. It's up to them to want to hear and receive. As much as we want it, not all do.
DeleteAmen!
ReplyDeleteAmen!
ReplyDeleteI love you Kory!
DeleteYou're not alone. Too many times we pass up the opportunity to share God with others. We've all fallen short of our potential and responsibilities. With God's grace we will have more chances, and the strength to meet the world with His word. New follower here. I'm stopping by from the "A to Z" challenge, and I look forward to visiting again.
